You said ..... We did

Throughout the year the library has asked everyone to complete several surveys. The library staff feels that it is important to feedback on comments and suggestions where it has been possible. We will continue to update this when we receive future suggestions.

Electronic Books The Library has bought a selection of Fast Fact Books and 15 Oxford Handbook Titles electronically including Surgical Consent, Clinical Medicine, Midwifery, and Prescribing for Nurses and Allied Health Professionals. We have also created dedicated pages on our website for the e-books we previously purchased to increase awareness of these titles.
You should be allowed to bring your bag into the library, rather than having to lock it up as a mandatory rule upon entry. We have just completed a stocktake of the library book stock and will be allowing bags inside the library for a trial period until December 2013. We will complete a further stocktake during the Christmas period closure to see if this will continue. Lockers will still be available for those who wish to use them.
Opening hours are limited. More evening time would be helpful. A trial of longer opening hours took place over a 3 month period. During this time the usage was monitored. The library was mainly used until 17:30. It was decided that the library hours will be extended to 17:30 during term time. Please look at the Opening Hours page for more details.
More help with literature searches.  The library already offers help with literature searches in several ways.
  • Users can book a slot with the librarians to carry out the literature search together.
  • E-mail a request to the library.
  • Complete an Information Request Form.
  • Phone the librarians.
We are also investigating an electronic form which can be submitted through the website.
IT facilities and Wi-Fi  We are unable to increase the speed or number of the computers within the library. However we are investigating the possibility of installing Wi-Fi within the library.
